I loved the whole album. So many highlights. Criminally overlooked at the time. So many great ideas.

A girl I used to see got me this.

I’m hindsight, she was probably a keeper.

Scottish thirtysomethings really seem to go for Britpop has been tours. Both Ocean Colour Scene and Shed Seven can sell out a venue in Aberdeen without trying.

It’s weird, isn’t it? Even my parents have managed to move on from the music of their youth, but there’s a gigantic crowd of Scottish folk still stuck in a 90s bubble. There must have been a lot of wet underwear in Glasgow when this was announced: http://starshaped.club/festival/

Think Ocean Colour Scene have probably played every single T in the Park…

This was a hit on indie pirate radio in Ireland ages ago, so yeah it doesn’t count but it’s still brilliant

Please I urge you to listen : )

Love this!

That looks stunning. Masterpiece.

Thing is, I still listen to stuff that was out when I was about 13/14 (and a lot of these bands like Ride, Lush, Slowdive, MBV etc. have come back recently) but luckily that was a good 5 years before Britpop. Always feel sorry for anyone who had to have Shed 7 as their all time favourite band.

I think everyone returns to the stuff they were into in their teen years - I’ve been doing it myself recently. Scotland does seem to have a particularly huge chunk of folk who’ve never left that era though. (I say this as someone who started to get in to music during the Britpop years - all two of them - as well.)

Will probably regret posting this as it’s truly one of the worst records ever made but does qualify (thankfully) as a one hit wonder…

I Know. When Brit Pop really hit the bottom rung…

God! I really, REALLY hated that Catch single and I’ve got a LOT of shit by Britpop also-rans. Anyone else go to Thurman’s album launch at Madam Jo-Jos? No? Didn’t think so…

Girl that I used to work with was obsessed with Laxton’s Superb!

Toby Slater from Catch now runs a sex club in London.

Where’s that thread about throwing up a little bit in your mouth?

Ahhh, the night I missed the last train home after going to see them and Soda at the Water Rats. Halcyon days!

I maintain that Coming Round by Laxton’s Superb is a banger.

Ah, kiddy indie. I remember this guy, thought he was an insufferable wank.
