I made the thread, not it
Oops, forgot the thread said instrumental. Cinematic Orchestra are ‘mostly’ instrumental cinematic soul.
These guys, Cosmic Analog Ensemble (actually one guy Charif Megarbane under the ensemble name) are very good.
Love this stuff. Surprise Chef, Ironsides, David Axelrod, SFJ, SHOLTO. All great.
One not mentioned yet (I think, sorry if it has been) is Karate Boogaloo. Last year’s album was excellent.
Colemine Records is chock full of this stuff. Okonski is on the jazzier end of this stuff, but the album released this year is wonderful
Yes to this^
and this^
I’m hoping to make it down to their record store this summer and/or their massive barn sale. Both look epic. I’ve got one of these on the record player too
Not familiar with them, will definitely check some of them
You’ll probably enjoy The Rugged Nuggets and The Winston Brothers. I quite like the Scone Cash Players too.
New album from The Sorcerers out today, tis pretty good on first listen.
Yeah. This is fun!

The Heliocentrics were the band that got me into this style of music. A lot more jazz than soul, but definitely fits in here. RIP Ade.
Couple from the Huey show today
Blue Earth Sound had an album out last week by the looks of things. This was lovely
And he played a Sven Wunder track, assuming from their upcoming album released on Friday. Was bloody gorgeous.
Listening to a bit of Bob James this morning. One is such a great little album, Valley of the Shadows and Nautilus are so so iconic.
Hip hop would be so different if it wasn’t for Bob James.
New Parlour Greens out Friday on Colemine Records. FFO funky soul organ and guitar sorta instrumental stuff. Straight out of the early 70s
Adding it to the list!
Also a new Okonski track last week. Jazzier sorta of vibes, but fits the bill for this thread nicely
