I get the impression its a lot less transmissible outdoors, so holding on to that tbh. if they reopen the pubs, restaurants and cinemas etc then its a different story altogether.

No. Think it’s just Reception and Year 6 back for now.

Year 10 are supposed to be back at some point, but my wife’s school at least seem to be putting it off as long as possible - end of June is the absolute earliest they’ll have anyone in now.

And year 1

I’d say the risk months would be Oct-Dec

I don’t think VE was that popular with the whole population range. I didn’t see that much going on, just a couple of distanced gatherings. Whereas a bag o’cans/picnics in the park/beach and seeing a neighbour/family members in your garden will be much more popular.

Dunno, speculation obvs, but we’ll have to wait and see

Based on the experience of other countries it seems like school re-openings haven’t had a massive effect. Fingers crossed.

What’s going to happen if/when (more than potentially imo) other countries open up borders, but because of how far behind the uk is, don’t let Brits in, or make them quarantine? And then everyone who can’t go on holiday is really angry.

  • The public will blame the uk gov and their prior decision making
  • The EU will get the blame

But they had much, much lower rates of daily new infections than the UK currently does, which is why there’s been pushback from SAGE.

As a BAME with family members on the frontline I’ll be furious if this is delayed any further.

Just your prime minister taking control of the handling of the pandemic that’s killed the best part of 100,000 people in the country over the last few months

Equal parts ‘well, what the fuck has he been doing for the past three months’ and ‘oh fucking hell, things are really going to go wrong now’.

Hope he drives a mini-digger through a billboard with a picture of coronavirus on it though…

I vaguely remember hearing that Gove was in charge of coordinating it. My brain may have made that up tho.

I am relieved that the Prime Minister is taking “direct control” rather than whatever the fuck he was doing before.

Taking back control. The slogan than will never die!

We are considering the merits of our family and two others with same age kids who live close by treating ourselves as a kind of closed group. We’ve all been pretty good at isolating. We wouldn’t even be attempting to get the kids to social distance as they’re all 4 or 7 it seems futile. None are in school.

Anon poll but feel free to share your thoughts

  • Yeah, why not
  • Don’t be daft

(It’s all moot now for a while anyway as M spent all day at A&E with R for a non corona thing today.so we wouldn’t be starting until we felt likely to be clear)

Harbinger Mass Effect voice Assuming direct control of this shitshow.

Can’t help but feel that point 2 is insanely irresponsible reporting. The government reported 324 deaths yesterday and the ONS reports are adding to that.

Just not true is it? I know ‘soon’ is relative, but that’s going to be read as in a couple of weeks or so i think.
