its weird how different social distancing is in the States. I’ve listened to tonnes of mainly sports personalities talk about how they’ve been hitting the gym with other sports people, playing rounds of golf with other people etc. this John Cena photo got a great reaction on reddit -

My American in-laws are awful at it, they seem to think that it’s okay if you’re only seeing close friends or family etc (though I’m sure this is the shitty advice they’re getting from their government). Apparently my wife’s grandmother had a test for it a month back and it came out clean, and they acted like that meant she’d be fine to go hang out with other people or head off to her usual social routine - when it actually means she’s still totally at risk. Bizarre.

There’s only one person in that photo, a small child sitting on his own?

This sounds threatening, like we won’t be safe to stay at home soon.

For at least the last hundred years the concept of American liberty seems intertwined with just dangerous negligence

Dangerous negligence at best, catastrophic exceptionalism the rest of the time

Suggested guidelines in Ireland to re-open pubs. No way this will be able to maintained once people get drunk.

Not surprised that the Vintners Federation of Ireland have suggested these completely unworkable arrangements.

Working in a bar serving drunken revellers must be hard enough at the best of times. Expecting bar staff to enforce these rules will make it fucking hellish.

In a non-Covid scenario I’d kind of love bars like this though.

This is absolute unworkable nonsense. Also, there’s absolutely no regard for the person doing the table service. What’s to stop them coming into contact with people, and what’s the point of making the customers all space out etc then throwing the staff into harm’s way. And no bar I know will be able to afford to reopen with those kind of restrictions on numbers.
