Yeah that’s terrible logic. As if Salah would be the best player if he played for Man City, but not if he played for Liverpool, even though he’s exactly the same person.
Arguably it’s easier to be a good player if you’re surrounded by other good players - if you play for the top team, you know you probably don’t have to do much defending and you will have the majority of the possession. If you’re in a more average team you’ll have less of the ball, fewer opportunities and will have to do more work to compensate for the failings of those around you. You have to do more with less. That’s why some of the most standout attacking midfielders have played with the best holding players, because they don’t have to worry about that part of the game.
