I was thinking actually cause Richard Herring is encouraging people to share male heroes and I’m seeing them all and they’re like, fine, but for me I can’t even think of one?

Like, there are musicians I like, people I respect, people who I know have done great things but I just don’t have any male ‘heroes’ even in my own life.

Probably daddy issues and absence of men from my life tbh but still

When you truly unpick it I’m not convinced what’s valuable stuff left is worth being gendered but I can see the idea

How about an International Bin Day where we all come together and do our bins on one day?

Oh no I’m absolutely not saying we shouldn’t do that, that’s crucial - but I think for me it ends in sacking off masculinity as a thing.

I’ve seen that thread and you’re not tricking me into this

probs as an end point yeah. But that doesn’t mean its not a part of a transition.

I prefer bin day because then my rubbish is taken away

redefining it with a view to binning it is definitely worth getting behind

Agree. Think we should make this a day when the men of DiS get to start all the threads and control the discourse for a change :+1:

I hope my bin day reminders are helpful for people on here, can do the same for international men’s day if you want

I think masculine traits are desirable to many for their own sake and not solely because of the status, power and privilege they confer under a patriarchal system.
