Internet Hotspot Question

I’ve moved into a new flat and it’ll be a couple of weeks until broadband gets put in.

Got unlimited data on my phone so I’m using that to hotspot off of, but the only way I can get a decent enough reception is by leaving it at the living room window.

Is there any sort of device I can use which would let me use my mobile data in the same way but allow me to not have to leave my phone at the window?

Probably not, but I’m not really in the know about these things.

Not without putting your SIM card in it, no.

When we had the same issue, I just bought a PAYG 4G hotspot - it was about £50 IIRC and maybe another £20 or so for a month of data. So not nothing, but also, now I have a 4G hotspot I can use whenever the broadband goes down.

What’s a hotspot not?

I watched this show so much as a kid and never, ever knew what the response to this was supposed to be. Just some audience noises.

Clearly wasn’t getting the response he wanted if he kept asking the question

Bumping this old thread to ask, is there something you can buy to enhance your phone’s ability to connect to data that otherwise keeps cutting out?
Broadband is down at the moment and obviously there’s excess demand on 4g in this area. But not everyone has to work from home…
Can get it to work reliably after 11 or so when everyone else is gone to bed so it’s clearly a demand thing

Not really, it’s a capacity thing on your mobile provider’s end (and also a physics thing). The only way they can really improve things is to deploy more cell towers :-/
