Inverness

Hello, I’m looking at maybe staying overnight in Inverness. Would have from late morning Saturday into Sunday evening. Is there anything cool and fun to do in Inverness? Castle any good? I don’t drive so I’d be staying quite central to the train station. Any recommendations for nice brunches or dinners? I don’t drink so bars and pubs are less useful to me unfortunately.

I passed through for a few hours over the summer, and stopped for brunch at the Culture Cafe which was a cute place. It’s all veggie/vegan, but the omnivores I was with enjoyed their food too. Just a few min walk downhill from the station.

Inverness castle’s still closed I think, unless you mean Urquhart Castle but that’s a bit of a bus ride away, out by Loch Ness. I’ve never been tbh, thought the ticket price to look at some ruins seemed a bit steep. Culloden battlefield and museum’s alright, it’s on the outskirts but only 20 mins or so on the bus, though think they can be infrequent. Otherwise it’s a pretty small city, can be nice to just wander about for an afternoon

The Mustard Seed was quite nice for a fancy dinner.

Get the train to Kyle of Lochalsh and back

Had a nice wander along the river, criss-crossing the various bridges for an hour or two during my brief visit there a couple of months back. Pleasant.
