The best Galway Girl

Might have to come back to this thread.

Christy Moore particularly when he was proper solo in the mid 90’s was fantastic.
Andy Irvine, Patrick Street, The Chieftians immediately leap to mind.

Best session I’ve ever seen was in a little hut in County Claire.

Christy Moore had such a great mane of hair

Haha the tv just said to me ‘the fucking pogues, you serious?!’

Not strictly drunken but this is a welcome excuse to post one of the all time fucking great tracks:

Christy Moore’s Live At The Point is the greatest live album ever made, and I will fight* anyone who says otherwise.

*mildly disagree with

Me this morning:

SCENE: An office in Belfast with the sound up reasonably loud on my PC.
“Oh I see @anon19035908 has posted a few songs in the Irish Drnking Tunes thread lets click on them to see what they are…”

I imagine they went down well. To be fair I’m not sure what you’d expect a song called ‘Come Out Ye Black And Tans’ to be about? Maybe @Kallgeese should blast them in his office and we’ll compare reactions!

Oh Ive heard them before but I clicked without reading the titles or lowering volume/putting on headphones :grinning:

I expect the whole fucking office would sing along.

I remember a few mates of mine were in a band and for a Hallowe’en party they all dressed as the Wolfe Tones and just played Wolfe Tones songs for the night. WILD scenes.

In my previous life as manager of an Irish bar, rebel songs aside, these would always produce the best singing, and coincidentally are the best Pogues songs

Also was a massive Celtic pub so this always went down a storm…
