Christy Moore had such a great mane of hair
Haha the tv just said to me ‘the fucking pogues, you serious?!’
Not strictly drunken but this is a welcome excuse to post one of the all time fucking great tracks:
YES!
Haha put this on and she started talking about work and eventually said ‘are you listening to me?!’
‘Whit, Rory’s on, no!’
haters gonna hate
Christy Moore’s Live At The Point is the greatest live album ever made, and I will fight* anyone who says otherwise.
*mildly disagree with
Me this morning:
SCENE: An office in Belfast with the sound up reasonably loud on my PC. “Oh I see @anon19035908 has posted a few songs in the Irish Drnking Tunes thread lets click on them to see what they are…” …
I imagine they went down well. To be fair I’m not sure what you’d expect a song called ‘Come Out Ye Black And Tans’ to be about? Maybe @Kallgeese should blast them in his office and we’ll compare reactions!
Oh Ive heard them before but I clicked without reading the titles or lowering volume/putting on headphones
I expect the whole fucking office would sing along.
I remember a few mates of mine were in a band and for a Hallowe’en party they all dressed as the Wolfe Tones and just played Wolfe Tones songs for the night. WILD scenes.
Hahaha! Fuck, what a mistake!
In my previous life as manager of an Irish bar, rebel songs aside, these would always produce the best singing, and coincidentally are the best Pogues songs
Also was a massive Celtic pub so this always went down a storm…
A Pair of Brown Eyes is so good
Saw Titus Andronicus in Cork in 2015 and they played it then. Belter.
also a fine song from that album that I’m going to file as Irish interest is:
particularly fond of the line: “Yeah, we’re just two Catholic kids out on the run Either from God or a guy with a gun”
Decided if you’re going to the Limerick gig then @Kallgeese ?
