Die Hard 4.0 (ugh) is watchable because it keeps a bit of it’s humour/feels like part of the others (and car into helicopter). 5 was a shitshow that seemed more like a movie that was written as a standalone, but didn’t get picked up because it was derivative shite, which was then rewritten to add the existing characters, which meant it got greenlit, but then it actually made it even worse.

this is actually true of DH 2 and DHWAV

Both scripts existed as standalone films before they were turned into Die Hards (or were adapted from books that had nothing to do with Die Hard. DHWAV was based on a book called “Simon Says”)

You can tell WAV was a book first because it has an actual plot and character arcs

ofc it is teaches you about the importance of family, virtue, honour, reaching out to other cultures and shooting them in the face. what more do you want.

1-nil to the book club (again!)

I think Die Hard was based on a book too

Could have been made in the 70s and starred Frank Sinatra

“The Detective, the 1968 movie based on Roderick Thorp’s first novel, was a box-office success. When a movie based on Thorp’s sequel went into production, the studio was contractually obligated to offer Sinatra the lead role. Sinatra, then in his early 70s, turned down the project. The story was then changed to have no connection to The Detective.”

Imagine how good Die Hard would’ve been with Frank Sinatra as the lead

a 70 year old Sinatra!

found 4 completely unwatchable because of the orange and teal overload. like it was physically unpleasant to look at, nevermind the complete pish that was actually happening.

I remember thinking it was pretty poor, but then I watched 5 and I think it made me think it was better than it was?

I just can’t imagine ever watching die hard. I can imagine watching it at some point in the past, but not in the present or future.

omg imagine not watching die hard :fire:

Imagine? I’m doing it right now!
