Is Middlesbrough part of Yorkshire?

Apparently so, but it’ll always be Teesside to me.

For me, Yorkshire (South, West, North) have definitive characteristics and Middlesbrough does not fit into those. It is far more akin to Sunderland and Newcastle

I remember John Motson describing Leeds v Middlesbrough as a local derby on MOTD once and I was so angry I put a brick through the television.

Not in but close to Middlesbrough. Sometimes address forms online populate as North Yorkshire but I’d never write that because it looks a bit try-hard doesn’t it.

My former (Teesside) employer had an enormous number of leaflets and posters printed with it spelled Teeside. I had to be the one to point it out :grimacing:
