I’m surprised this is a Motown song, I thought the northern soul nights were all about championing the more indie/lost stuff of the time.
Motown is weird, half of it is great the other half the worst depressing local working men’s club, old guys at the fruit machine schlock imaginable.
Also obscure Motown songs that weren’t hits (or maybe Uk hits anyway)
I was completely unaware of that song until “northern soul” became a concept I was aware of much later in life- but I knew loads of actual classic Motown as a kid in the 80s
