Is this the Saturday thread?

Booze festival for the middle section of the day, currently debating whether to head to morning badminton or not

Off up to Edinburgh, it’s my partner’s birthday we’re off to meet friends there. Trip to Uniqlo first and then to Pizzeria 1926 for lunch (IYKYK :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:), then to the pub, home by 7:30 I think. Very civilised day!

Watching all these people run in the rain makes me feel like a lazy git. Had 6 weeks off since redundancy and all I’ve done is cycle my bike to pubs! Need to get back on the skateboard.

Better be a good pub

Joseph Pearce. I’ve actually never been before!

They’re cutting so much off our tree :sob::sob::sob:

Is anyone a tree specialist on here, or does anyone know anything about trees? Do you sometimes have to cut loads off a tree to keep it healthy? I’m trusting them that it’s the right thing for the tree but we had two big blooming apple trees and we don’t any more :sob::sob::sob:

Nice vibe, and Jeremiah’s just up the street for a micro crawl option

Doing a trial at a bird sanctuary this afternoon

If this is the last time you see me then I’ve probably contracted parrot fever

Morning all. Definitely hydrated this morning with a triple parking of spiced tea, Virgin Mary and a pint of water.

9 days off! What a joy  and dad arrives tomorrow! So excited - and we are going straight for a roast dinner so looking forward to @Gnometorious thread.

Does anyone have any details for slicky like an address - did they ever take part in any raffle or secret Santa or something? I wouldn’t normally advocate being intrusive in this way but looking back at their posts they gave no sign they were going to take a break or anything.

Last full day on holiday :sob:

Thinking of ordering lunch from the hotel pool bar menu

  • Carbonara spaghetti
  • Club sandwich
  • Steak sandwich
  • Chicken kebab

Pollarding is fairly common with apple trees I think if you want more density in the crown; is that the plan?

If it’s just being pruned too hard, you’ll probably get a bunch of ugly new growth aiming straight up in the air, which isn’t ideal. People usually try to not take off more than 1/5 when pruning (as opposed to pollarding).

That’s the highly unimpressive extent of my knowledge, having worked for hundreds of arboriculturists over the last 10 years!

Still got a sore neck so not sure I’m gonna hit the gym. Will be taking a long walk and listening to the mount eerie album though. Might go to the pool.

Breakfast and housework first though

Taking the girlfriend to the airport shortly as she’s away to the far east for the next 5 weeks with work.
Off to see the Gurriers tonight

From the description, it looks like they’ve used pollarding on one tree and then more standard pruning on the other. The plan was just to take the density out of the trees but it seems they had other plans… Just a bit disconcerting when they’ve not explained themselves properly!

More room for the girls to play badminton next summer so that’s a positive.

Breakfast pizza!

Had half left over from yesterday as it was bold of me to think I could eat an entire pizza for two. So that means brekkypizza!

Absolutely no way Dwayne The Rock Johnson could fit into that.
