Ok this is a bit of a weird one but hoping some of you clever IT people may have a solution.
So my 81 year old mother in law has a Virgin email address just because when she first got internet they were the best provider option and that is the address she used to set everything up. This was well over a decade ago.
She has very basic IT skills but has over the years just about got there in terms of using it for what she needs. So everything is set up with the virgin email address.
A couple of weeks ago she got a message from virgin saying they were going to shut her email account down. Having established it wasn’t a con my partner spent a few hours on hold and eventually managed to talk to someone who basically said that they were closing down accounts where people weren’t paying for Virgin services. But as she still pays them for internet this isn’t the case, There was clearly some disconnect though as they couldn’t seem to understand that she pays them for internet but not as part of some wider cable package. Anyway they eventually seemed to twig and said fine she’ll keep the email.
So inevitably they have messaged again saying her account will be shut down.
So of course we will have to go through all the contact again but is there any work around as it seems fairly likely they may arbitrarily shut it off.
Is it possible to do a redirect or will that stop working because the account you are directing from no longer exists? Any way to sort of transfer everything in bulk over to a new email? Any ideas at all?
Thanks!
