I have a sudden & very extreme urge to go to a chippy and get battered sausage & chips with curry sauce

nearest one is probably about 1200km away ffs

Been out for a walk with Lost Wisdom and the Talkhouse podcast

Now I’m really hot and I have no choice but to go shirts off curtains closed and play Resident Evil 2

Just dropped my phone. Dick.

Thankfully the damage hasn’t rendered it unusable, but still…

what did you do that for

It wasn’t so much a drop, more a slip off the garden table.

It’s sods law - normally it’s in a case, but that’s not on this afternoon because it got sand in it this morning.

it’s got really dark all of a sudden

Bought a juicer and some oranges instead

Margherita pizza, sweet and sour chicken balls for a topping, garlic naan for dipping in the sweet and sour sauce.

This is very clever

Bit of an update on my neighbour situation, posted about it about a month ago but it was my old account so got deleted.
Anyway yeah, after I posted it I didn’t see or hear anything from him or his kids to the point I genuinely thought he’d moved out- no lights on or anything. And I couldn’t exactly call and be like “well there was a man who lived there who’s name I don’t know.”
But it started again tonight so I rang social services, who were about to close as were any other agencies so they gave me the out of hours number, which I rang. Person I spoke to was lovely. I explained I don’t know any of their names, just a flat number, so sorry for wasting time etc but the shouting was the worst it’s been, a lot of swearing as well. She looked up the address but cause they most likely don’t live in this building full time, even if they are known to them they wouldn’t be able to see on their database or whatever cause it’s not their primary address.
She told me to ring 101 to get an incident number, which I did, and then called back to give it to her. Also mentioned the… not cigarettes he was smoking, and like, I dunno friends I’m never normally a grass but it’s not… ideal is it. Especially the stuff you get nowadays. Do what you want, I’m not one to judge, but when young kids are around it’s different IMO.
But yeah, all logged and reported and gonna be investigated. So I’m relieved about that.
I really hope all of them are okay, and get support and stuff.
Sorry for waffling, just felt a bit… overwhelmed.

I’ve been in vaguely similar situations at work and it still does feel like you’re telling tales and interfering, even though you know you are totally doing the right thing.

Sorry to hear you’ve had to deal with that Keith, horrible stuff.
Yeah, exactly that. At first was trying to make it seem less bad than it is- then realised ffs it’s bad enough that I’ve felt the need to flag it so need to be honest. Terrible business.

You have completely done the right thing. You’re a good person- lots of people would just look the other way and they do, and children slip between the cracks. It may be that the guy needs some additional support more than anything else xx
