I feel like sausages might be a slightly more ethical way of eating meat in a way in some way because you’re at least eating more parts of the animal.

So flavoursome, so many varieties.
Don’t understand why people pretend to like £30 steaks. Gross. Get a sausage

They’re really grim. Let’s not kid ourselves. Eaten them for about 15 years and I was only lying to myself.
The burgers are good and this stuff

not a thing I’m afraid. it all boils down to economics. if you’re buying meat products of any form you are helping support the business model of meat producers.
(I’m not vegetarian btw)

I’m with you on this one

Dunno. I did qualify my statement by saying its ‘slightly more’ ethical.

Are you saying that it’s no more ethical to buy organic, free-range animal that are ‘humanely’ killed than to buy factory-farmed, caged, chlorinated chickens?

(I eat meat too, so mainly trying to assuage(sausage?!) my own guilt)

I guess it depends where you’re coming from in terms of ethics.

In terms of climate change, there’s not a massive difference really, we just shouldn’t eat meat, or eat it very rarely.

In terms of animal welfare and stuff, then yeah obvs organic and free range is better, but that’s kinda a completely separate thing from meat vs animal by-products.

If I slaughter a pig and 60% of it makes pork chops and bacon and whatever, 20% makes sausages, 8% gets sold as mixed slurry for making gravy granules, dog food and Rustlers, and the rest is waste, then all those components are part of the pig’s value to me. There’s no such thing as “oh well the pig is dead now we might as well let someone have it’s eyeballs save them going to waste.”

All meat’s pretty gross. Depends whether you think mechanical off cuts squished together in a skin tube are more gross or not I suppose.

Taifun hotdogs are the best veggie ‘sausages’

Have yet to find a decent 'standard’veggie sausage though, agreed. Cauldron the best of a bad bunch. Havent had many shroom dogs tho - maybe some of them are good.

Its mad that veggie sausages are mostly terrible when there are so many decent to excellent veggie burgers out there now.

best meat-style but not meat product i’ve tried was vegan chicken nuggets

pretty much the same as the real thing

Meat sausages are awful! Both in concept and execution. The worst type of meat. Madness.

Linda Mac’s chorifaux and red pepper sausages are delicious though.

the difference between a really good sausage and a really shit one is possibly the largest of any food

like when you go for a cheap fry up, the bacon and hash browns are hard to fuck up but the cheap shit sausages you always get are ALWAYS shit

I like several vegetarian sausages.

I care not for meat sausages.
