I guess it depends where you’re coming from in terms of ethics.
In terms of climate change, there’s not a massive difference really, we just shouldn’t eat meat, or eat it very rarely.
In terms of animal welfare and stuff, then yeah obvs organic and free range is better, but that’s kinda a completely separate thing from meat vs animal by-products.
If I slaughter a pig and 60% of it makes pork chops and bacon and whatever, 20% makes sausages, 8% gets sold as mixed slurry for making gravy granules, dog food and Rustlers, and the rest is waste, then all those components are part of the pig’s value to me. There’s no such thing as “oh well the pig is dead now we might as well let someone have it’s eyeballs save them going to waste.”
