I ended up staying up and watching quite a bit of it.
The Police is the worst band name of all time.
He’s the smuggest man in the world.
He was pretty good at writing melodies.
That’s it I think.

Did they show the ship building musical he did with Jimmy Naill? Very funny stuff
Also: never knew The Police were the “biggest band in the world” at one point.
‘Smug’ seems too small a word for how smug Sting is.
Yeah, any town or city I go to in the world I see people wearing their logo all over their clothes, often even emblazoned across their cars
Still remember seeing him on BBC Breakfast talking about his lute album and saying he wouldn’t do another one because “lute albums don’t pay the bills”
I put on 2 mins of the Radio 2 performance as I thought Sting just played the Lute. As it happens he just plays slow versions of his old songs in a much lower key
The Police were great but I put a lot of credit for that on Andy Summers and especially Stewart Copeland. The Live album is genuinely brilliant.
“Smugness” isn’t really a thing I believe in generally though tbh, people sometimes get called smug because they smile a certain way even though they might be deeply insecure. It’s an annoying word. No one’s ever actually smug.

Narcissus!
Yeah fuck it this definitely works

Yeah I hate string. Rubbish
Alright, the nylon industry.
First heard this song via the Feeder cover
Quite liked him in that clip with Vic and Bob
I know people that work with him on tours and stuff, supposedly very funny, nice etc.
I love that he (Sting) ended up in a massively successful band with a massive windup merchant (Copeland) who detested his smugness and took every opportunity to bring him down a peg or two.
