Wednesday is bin day for me. Fortnightly the non recycling one goes out, all recycling bins (green, black and brown) go out every week. Tomorrow is going to be a day when all four hit the pavement.

Generally I notice that the collection for the wheely bin happens early in the morning (pre 8.30am), whereas the collection for recycling happens later in the day.

I have a story about our grey bin.

plasticmike wanted to paint our grey bin with the number of our flat on it. We had some leftover white paint lying about so he started painting it on every side. Then he realised he’d painted the indoor food bin instead of the outdoor one.

Sometimes I get stuck behind the bin lorry if I leave the house too late on bin day. It’s quite frustrating.

I’m getting annoyed at people walking past our house and throwing rubbish into our recycling and food waste bin, meaning that the council refuse to empty it. As a result, I’m thinking of getting a wheelie bin store for our front yard.

They’re expensive, aren’t they?

Quite, the worst thing about it is it’s just a little bit too small to fit a fully loaded bin bag so you need to remind yourself to take it out before it is at capacity. I have started using small bags which alleviates this somewhat.

Love bin day. Thursdays. Food waste guys come first, then the bins, then recycling. Recycling is especially gratifying. The record of your weeks boozing reset to zero.
