actually I have noticed some dvds look shit on HD tvs. had a moment a few months ago where I thought my copy of goodfellas was bootleg or something it looked so bad, put put it down to my telly being shit instead.

might become a blu-ray man.

Yeah of course, its all bullshit. Stuff looking good only matters for the first 15 minutes of watching a movie/playing a game.

I mean, I kind of get it with some stuff - my goodfellas experience for example, but I find it difficult to believe blu-ray will be supplanted by 4K or whatever. Isn’t blu-ray supposed to be pretty flawless?

It’s just higher resolution again so you see more detail in the picture. Will depends how far you sit from the tv, how fucked your eyes are and how drunk you are though

I only really buy blurays for films that deserve the royal treatment, an HD stream is good enough for things I’m just watching casually or whatever.

In pure terms of pixels, DVDs are 720x576, Blurays 1920x1080 and 4k is 3840x2160 so they’re pretty massive jumps really but there are variables within those as well. :nerd_face:

Same here. It’s 2:50 in the morning and I’m wide awake. Mrs F kicked me gratuitously while I was lying furiously arguing with my boss in my semi-conscious state. So for some reason I got up, did all the washing up, then poured myself a glass of wine and ended up reading this thread. Should probably just read a few pages of a book and then either crash out on the sofa or go back and fight for my right to kip upstairs.

Just woke up from a bizarre fever / anxiety dream in which I realised that I actually had to go to work today (and that if I left now, I’d get there at half four), after which I went to a party that was an absurd exaggeration of party nerves and social awkwardness (fights and intercourse would break out randomly, sometimes being revealed to have been staged; I’d look around for the people I came with who would keep disappearing / saying horrible things to one another that would make each other storm away again). Even the ginger cat that appeared on the stairs (I actually thought this bit was real for a bit bc I’d just woken up in the dream) first as a badly drawn cartoon and then as a real looking actual cat was unnerving. I went to show it to my parents and then it sung happy birthday and j woke up totally weirded out.
