1 marathon =
26.219 miles

Can we do something about this shit too? Why is it that length? Is it because of The Greeks?

500x1m relay, because the baton exchanges are the fun bit so we want to maximise those.

Or if you were stacked with 200m runners you could enter (2x200 + 1x100)

Not allowed in covid times 250x2 minimum

250x2, baton to be sanitised before handed on

Got to say, it’s really nice to see this being so positively received. Proof that, when he puts his mind to it, our friend Balonz is capable of some decent ideas.

My post was definitely above balonzs a minute ago and now it’s like this

What gives.
Who’s psy opping me?

Cheers Theo, I’ll pop that 36 sided dice in the post for you.

Probably my favourite event because everyone tries to sprint it then regrets their life decisions.

It’s actually because of the british, and wanting the marathon to finish in front of the royal box during the 1908 olympics.

feel sorry for the person who gets to 800m in first place and slows down forgetting there’s another 200m

The International Olympic Committee agreed in 1907 that the distance for the 1908 London Olympic marathon would be about 25 miles or 40 kilometres. The organisers decided on a course of 26 miles from the start at Windsor Castle to the royal entrance to the White City Stadium, followed by a lap (586 yards 2 feet; 536 m) of the track, finishing in front of the Royal Box.

The course was later altered to use a different entrance to the stadium, followed by a partial lap of 385 yards to the same finish.

The modern 42.195 kilometres (26.219 mi) standard distance for the marathon was set by the International Amateur Athletic Federation in May 1921 directly from the length used at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London.

As if Seb Coe would ever stand for that kind of shit idea.

Think :rotating_light: QI Klaxon :rotating_light:ing people so they Go and and c&p Wikipedia might be my new bit
