I got home from the hospital eventually. I’m not allowed to operate machinery until tomorrow lunchtime and apparently the cooker counts as machinery.

The hospital put tape on my unhealed piercings and on my face for some reason so my ears and face are gluey. I put moisturiser on the glue in the hopes of dissolving it (it was what I had to hand) and now my face and ears are both sticky and slimy somehow

As posted in the daily thread, I think the worst of my illness is subsiding. I just want to have one night of relatively uninterrupted sleep and without those horrible feverish dreams loopholes I’ve been stuck in the last 5 or 6 nights.
For now, got a pot of tea and some snacks so all is good 
Been crashing all day
Baked potato for comfort dinner, Buffy, maybe other entertainment
Finished my book and watched a lot of cinema YouTube at least

Evening all.
Had an awkward ‘staff survey’ feedback session with the boss and managers on my same level. He claimed that there was a sentiment of us all having a ‘pity party’ in response to some negative verbatim feedback and the fact we said we didn’t get any positive feeeback for a job well done.
Mate not sure you’ve appreciated the purpose of a staff survey there.

Got a manageable amount of pain and feeling a bit foggy but not sure how much of the latter is because of the anaesthetic and how much is because I had to get up at 5am after 2-3 hours of sleep

Evening
Had sos+mash for tea.
Dog took himself off to bed at about 7, so we’re making the most of the opportunity to watch some vet/animal programs without him barking at them.
Been up at silly o clock the last couple of mornings but got two days off now, so I’m really looking forward to going to bed with limitless sleep opportunities for the night ahead. Gonna do so much sleeping!
Love an ‘anonymous’ staff survey that asks enough questions to narrow it down to a specific handful of people…

Think a bomb just went off near my house again. 2nd in a couple of years (probably a grenade or something again).
Like, surely as long as no one has said ‘this person is a complete cunt and I want them to die’ feedback is valid? And the default response from a manager should be ‘there were a lot of eye opening comments in the verbatim section, and I am sorry to hear people feel that way. We will look to resolve the issues’.
Not ‘well there is a bit of a pity party sentiment in this department and people feel wrongly hard done by, and I was very disappointed (said in the way a teacher would say disappointed) by your responses’

My work loves a survey and I’ve got some sympathy with being annoyed about respondents having a pity party, but ultimately the manager runs the department so like, they can bitch all they want about the responses, but they control the working conditions and they chose to hire the employees they’re complaining about so who’s having the pity party really?

I’ve been on my work Xmas do, I’ve had a very nice time. I struggle with imposter syndrome and self doubt a lot and as much as I get a lot out of working from home I think that does make these things worse. But I like the people I work with a lot and I think they like me as well. It’s nice to have things like this.
The downside is that I thought "I’ll leave sensibly early so I’ll catch my 9:30 train, and arrived on the platform at 9:23, watching the delayed 9:20 that I’d mistakenly thought was 9:30 glide away. Womp womp.
The upside is that I have a book!
The downside is that I’m nearly finished.
The upside is that there’s another train in 40 minutes!
The downside is that only goes half way and then it’s a rail replacement bus for my ass.
If I’m in bed before 1am it’s a good night.
