I've quit my job - what's the biggest/bestest/stupidist mistake YOU'VE made this year?

Nice try.

PM me! Iā€™m always interested to hear about beery stuff.

Itā€™s fine. Caterham Valley.
The reasons being.

a) There is only one pub, ā€œThe Surrey Houndsā€ that isnā€™t all that.
b) There are a few pubs on Caterham on the Hill but its a massive trek up a massive hill.
c) A few miles away there is a really nice micro-pub in Whyteleafe, but it itā€™s not that local. Something like this in Caterham which has a larger population and nicer high street and transport links would do great business.

d) There is a nice ā€œbeer shopā€ in Oxted about 4 miles away, but there are no direct transport links. Again Caterham is busier, so would fair well here. http://www.hopstopbeers.co.uk/
e) The place I have in mind, is on the edge of the high street where the housing starts. The prefect place.

I go to football with the Finance Director from work, and we quite often discuss going for it and going into business together.

Sounds perfect! I definitely think that this sort of business, deliberately niche in scope, has good potential. Donā€™t go crazy doing food, live music etc, just focus on the essentials and let whatever else follow naturally. :+1:

Not writing my friendsā€™ address on my hand on Friday night.

Think youā€™ve solved your own problem!

I am applying for a job in Stockholm. I donā€™t really know if I want to move but it could be good? Could be a mistake? Who knows?

stockholm is great, absolutely top move here m8

I am! Moving in 2 weeks! do you live there?

Nej, jag kommer frĆ„n Uppsala  (originally) but now live in the UK. what job did you get in stockholm? didnā€™t realise this thread was 2 months old until i replied!

i think this thread was the push for me to quit my job about three weeks later

i have one week left!! squeeeeeee!!!

havenā€™t sorted anything out at all for when i leave!

:muscle:

(provided you wonā€™t instantly be penniless and homeless) quitting a job with no alternative lined up is a great move! you can literally spend 20 hours a week applying for jobs and still have the other half of the working week as time off. itā€™s never failed for me and always served as a part-life upgrade part-holiday

Joint stupidist:

Took an unpaid job in Saudi Arabia once, to the vast amusement of the other 5 people on the plane over.

Also quit my job due to have a nervous breakdown. Spend 18 months depressed, struggling to get over it before being encouraged by my now manager to go back. 18 months in and nervous breakdown number 2 is looming pretty fucking large.

Top 5:

1/ Stuntman/woman
2/ Fells assessor
3/ Cones hotline emergency response person
4/ Elf
5/ Humber bridge painter

Iā€™m working for an educational publisher as a project manager - seems like a cool place, office in Ostermalm and Iā€™ll be living in Johannesov so all good!

youā€™ll have a great time iā€™m sure!
