I don’t know much about Ivor, apart from being confused and not really understanding when I heard him played on John Peel in the early 90’s but I really really enjoyed this documentary on Sky Arts yesterday evening. It was really warm, touching and fascinating in equal measure. Think I might search out some of his records.
A genius. Dandruff and Jammy Smears are both great albums
Watched the documentary the other month an enjoyed it a lot.
Regarding albums of his, I think Velvet Donkey might be the most consistent. There’s quite a lot of his stuff that I just don’t “get” though to be honest. These are some of my favourites-
he was amazing. properly singular and beguiling.
Only caught a few mins last night but what I did see seemed to reuse some footage from this which I remember being excellent
My kids enjoy this too
Used to sing this to them when walking round the kitchen rocking them in my arms at 3am
Unfortunately I missed it last night so thanks for the link to this documentary.
The Sky arts one might be on catch up? if you have Sky of course. I’m gonna watch the 2005 one as well pretty soon I think.
I don’t have Sky, no. I’m sure it will be repeated…
How can you wear your elbows down for me?!
Excellent documentary.
Sad to hear about his (lack of a) relationship with his mum, though.
That one’s my favourite
