You gonna tour with Earth, just to confuse everyone?

never heard em, always assumed they were kinda indie-schmindie - not so?

If they play in Ireland in 2017 I will on the booking agent’s case until we get the gig.

Thanks, Cilla! Viva powerskiffle!

No not really. It’s one guy and whoever wants to be in the band at the time. Some of their stuff is more post-rock, and some more the (old 90s definition) of emo/post-hardcore.

ahh nice, yeah xylo also said he thought it sounded like 90s emo. weird! will have to check em out.

I started a new thing this year (electronic drone/noise stuff) and had the first release last month, here’s one of the tracks off it:

Looking forward to making more stuff over the Christmas Break. This thread has a lot of cool songs in it, sometimes jags are good after all.

I think maybe it’s the texture of your voice? It’s the kind of clear voice lots of those bands favoured.

Been like 3 years since I actually got my act together to work on anything. Been re-listening to a bunch of old stuff and much of it is… flimsy. Good ideas but lack of production value. These are the ones I’m pretty happy with still on reflection.

Homage to Autechre-style glitchy ambient techno

Homage to early 'IDM’
https://soundcloud.com/ikantmusic/pulsar

Biosphere/Alva Noto inspired ambient techno

From when I was obsessed with Tim Hecker

turning off the latest Trilogy Tapes NTS to listen to these …Homage could easily have been in the mix

Cheers dude  Got a month living alone in San Francisco in Jan/Feb (working at our office over there for a bit) so might try and rework a bunch of old things while I’m there.

yeah, do it

or just try some new things - let San Fran give you a vibe and explore that maybe ?

Will see how inspired I feel! TBH, 90% of my output was during the year the TV and I were living in different cities, so maybe another month of that will rekindle the creative spark?

This is nice stuff. Love that floaty static feeling.

I’d get rid of the distortion on Pulsar if I was you - digital distortion is a bit painful like and it kind of ruins a really nice track

Just listened to the opener. It’s amazing! Will pick up a digital copy :+1:

Cheers dude - think I was going through a bit of a phase of just putting a bit of distortion on everything. Was pretty obsessed with Alva Noto’s Xerrox 2 and Tim Hecker at that point in time.

yeah but they use analogue distortion to get rich upper harmonics, digital distortion is just harsh frequencies and slices off the top of waveshapes. If you don’t have don’t have something to make analogue distortion or saturation with but still want that texture/scuzz then I’d recommend using some white/pink noise and gateing/ducking it alongside the bits you want to ‘distort’ to get the same effect of the actual synthline decaying/disintegrating into distortion
