American Animals - I thought this did a really good job of conveying all the dread and guilt the four of them felt.

I felt much more emotionally affected by what they did in that film than I did in films where multiple people might have died in pretty awful ways. Just excellent acting and directorial choices.

yesterday I watched:

Sorry To Bother You - liked it a lot, some really great moments and Lakeith is just fucking brilliant throughout - however I thought the union stuff got a bit muddled towards the end and it just didn’t finish as strong as it started. also I dunno why Tessa Thompson was doing that weird breathy accent a lot like she does in Creed, makes me think of Mariah Carey

The Square - hilariously put this on because my girlfriend didn’t want to watch a ‘thriller’ and it turned out to be fucking painfully tense throughout (my gf stopped watching as soon as she realised it was subtitled anyway). definitely too long, Ostlund’s ski-film past creeping in with all the long shots, however on the whole I thought it was brilliant - the marketing dickheads hit a little too close to home the night before going back to work however…

Also really enjoyed it but it felt quite episodic, each little part had its merits but didn’t hang together overall all that well.
