Films gonna come out 2 and a half years after it’s first trailer.

Let The Sunshine In
Absolutely loved this. I know it goes without saying but Juliette Binoche is just so good and gives so much to every role. A middle-aged dating movie full of people with neuroses coming out of their ears, with too much baggage, trying to make real connections - funny and charming without ever being too comedic or saccharine. CIearly I need to see more of Claire Denis’ films.

Just don’t expect much of the ‘funny and charming’ part in other Claire Denis films

Still pretending this is coming out, I see

A lot of that was due to faff with Dark Phoenix, though.

Although it looks like this final cut is exactly what was going to be released in 2018, so good move everyone

I’m ill so I watched fighting with my family instead of le petit soldat. Had its moments but its not great

Dr Ali from Corra is in it

I don’t know what that is

A bloke off Coronation Street, named Dr Ali

Interesting - I really enjoyed this novel

The book is pretty good but I’m really not sure how it can be adapted into a film… but it is very monotone, detached, and the pace doesn’t change so Yorgos is probably as good as anyone to make it work

Watching The souvenir. Almost an hour in. Does it get less tedious/slow/all characters are unlikable?

  • No abandon
  • Yes it gets good!

I loved it, but if you’re not enjoying it after an hour you sure as hell won’t after two

Its shite

I found the first part a bit trying (as it mainly seems like a tasteful, well shot evocation of the bourgeoisie) but it takes quite a big left turn later on

I think you should stick with it

Fuck, after the first half an hour we were so close to binning this off to watch The Raid and I wish so much we had

Both Jumanji films have been far better than they have any right to be. Can’t believe a joke so simple as ‘Kevin Hart is pretending to be Danny Glover’ works so well.

He doesn’t deserve one but I’m still going to laugh my head off when Todd Phillips gets a Best Director Oscar nomination
