Fuckin’ right.

Was in stitches basically every time he opened his mouth in that section.

0 people of colour nominated in ANY of the acting categories whilst Margo Robbie has 2 nominations is pretty poor.

It’s pretty awful yeah (I mean I love Scarlett Johansson and Margot Robbie, but giving them two noms each is daft, and let’s not get started on Taron Egerton in Rocketman) - also Bombshell is this year’s Vice in that nobody outside award bodies can see any merit in it

Don’t understand how Gerwig keeps getting overlooked. Little Women is a perfect example of how great direction can put a new spin and reinvigorate a familiar story. Fuck off Joker.

Todd Phillips is definitely this year’s Best Director panto villain! Gerwig might have a better shot at an Oscar nomination but I suspect the BAFTA lineup will be the Oscar lineup

Film awards are a complete bag of old wank

The whole thing irks me. Chronic lack of diversity in the film industry in the first place, then people like Bafta who really ought to be pushing local diverse talent rather than giving multiple noms to non-existent films like Bombshell in a pathetic attempt to match the prestige of the Oscars.

Should just bin off all of the establishment awards ceremonies. Utterly pointless

No don’t I like the screeners

It always irks me that Baftas and Oscars largely ignore the best films of the year they are ostensibly celebrating in favour of getting behind the promotional push of new movies that are out that fortnight.

Golden Globes/Oscars response to criticism: Look, you’ll all be back next year endlessly covering these awards anyway
BAFTA response to criticism: Look, nobody gives a shit about these awards anyway and we clearly have no interest in changing that

I signed up to Letterboxd yesterday - same username as in here if anyone wants to pall up.

I watched Thunder Road last night, very “one man showey” but decent

Hail Caesar is worth it alone for Channing Tatum’s No Dames number.

Can’t argue with that. Reckon the Coen’s have a really good musical in them y’know.

We watched that over Christmas, really enjoyed it actually. Although, did want to see more of the actual family it was based upon, as it looked like they’d almost done a documentary on them in the end credits. Best thing Vince Vaughn has done in a long while.

Was snippets from a channel 4 documentary from a decade or so ago. Assume it’ll be somewhere online
