Totally don’t believe teenagers in 2019 know ten+ year old Animal Collective songs.

It’s the old ā€˜this film was definitely written by a 30something white guy’ thing!

(again though, I liked the soundtrack, because I’m a 30something white guy)

I like to think that Trey Edward Shults wrote It Comes at Night and the first half of Waves and then took a break, and when he came back to finish off Waves he felt a bit more cheerful and decided to not do two completely super depressing films in a row

kept trying to work out how they filmed that, like if it was just the actors holding the camera passing it to each other or what

calling fans of martial arts films, there is a great doc on netflix called Iron Fists & Kung Fu kicks which tells the story of the martial arts films coming out of Hong Kong and into the reast of the world.
watched it last night, loved it.

Saw the trailer for the US ā€œremakeā€ yesterday. Looks quite bad unfortunately.

For a moment I thought ā€˜they remade the Jordan Peele film already?’

saw shakedown, 1917 yesterday

enjoyed it more than i thought i would. maybe low expectations are the secret to enjoying films?
spent the whole time trying to find the edits though. was quite distracting.

also war film on a weekday afternoon has to have been the highest average audience age i’ve seen in quite some time. looked like i was the only person there under 65.

Children of Men has a similar shot, I think they built a special rig for it or something, had an operator on top of the car or something.

Would guess it’s easier these days with smaller digital cameras tho.

or passes through a dark passageway, or goes behind a fencepost or…

The edits were so obvious that it didn’t even slightly feel like a one shot to me

Really don’t understand why people are saying its one take when it literally fades to black to mark the passing of time at one point?!

Yeah felt like a film full of a collection of very long takes

This is true. If folk hadn’t been banging on about it being one shot, I doubt that I would have noticed.
