I know someone who worked for a company he was a client of, he was such a cunt that he wasn’t worth the (large amount of) money he was paying them so the company dumped him.

Does it have any ties to the Bukowski book?

No idea, I haven’t seen it but it doesn’t seem so

Two works of art with that title, what a world

Never seen the Star Wars movies before, and so I thought I’d watch them on DisneyPlus. Have watched IV and V so far. Nice to finally see the pop culture bits that I’ve picked up on over the years, but not exciting me too much beyond that. Looking forward to it picking up with The Phantom Menace though!

ham on rye

my god this was tedious…i can only think the director has rich parents

cliched coming of age film filled with utterly forgettable, vacant teenagers who say and do nothing of interest

there’s a few filmmakers who can do ennui and alienation really well, the rest are absolutely torturous

Complete shite.

Watched Roma and enjoyed it a fair amount. Some wonderful visuals and the messages could have been very heavy handed in the wrong hands.

Hands.

The endless dog shit in the driveway was something I couldn’t figure out when I watched it.

Apart from that, I really liked it.

You should see the current state of my back garden and my dug is small.

The Silence - not my favourite of Makhmalbaf’s but its still a beautiful watch

Morning Glory - very weird film. Thought it’d be about the importance of a work-life balance but actually it’s about it’s good to turn down your dream career if Harrison Ford cooks an egg for you on telly

I really enjoyed this at the time

The Painted Bird is now on Mubi, nice light hearted film for the weekend

The Hunt A very average adaptation of The Deadliest Game. Nice to say Dennis from Always Sunny getting work, though. 4/10

The Karate Kid Girlfriend had never seen it before, still a classic. Inspired to watch off the back of Cobra Kai. 8/10

Hard Target Incredible - John Woo knows how to overstuff an action scene with doves, sparks, Christ poses, and slow mo. Loved Bishop from Aliens as the villain and Van Damme’s greasy mullet. The 2 and a bit hours breezed by. 9/10

Blow Utterly tedious “man gets into shady underworld and gradually gets his comeuppance” plot that’s been done better by Goodfellas, American Made, et all. Johnny Depp’s hair was the best part. Clock watched A LOT during the 2 and a bit hours. 3/10

Harold Ramis starring via CGI? Or maybe it’s his ghost. Either way… :grimacing:

Seeing this will probably depend on whether or not our daughter wants to see it, I guess.

We watched limp dramadoc Sully at the weekend. Mainly we picked it because it was only 90 mins. Not terrible just not much of a story to tell when all’s said and done (the one about the guy who had to land his plane in the Hudson and no one died).

You’ve never seen Stranger Things?

(Obviously I wouldn’t deck him because I don’t do that sort of thing but I definitely think he deserves no respect.)

Watched Les Miserables (not that one, the 2020 French one). Utter banger.

I watched ‘A Moment of Innocence’ yesterday, which I absolutely loved, and saw that this had gone up on Mubi. What else of his do you recommend?
