Yeah, I can’t find the dates anywhere, so we don’t know whether it picks up the changes to Christmas lockdown, the u-turn on schools, the Brexit deal or the current Covid case numbers at all.

If it’s Yougov then fieldwork dates will be this week - they poll online and don’t generally sit on their data.

Toby Young can only get students to join his group by tricking them.

This is the “top journalist” who once wrote an article doubting the concept of friendship because nobody wanted to come to his stag party.

Who got into Oxford with failing grades after being kicked out of multiple boarding schools, pretty much because his Big Deal parents threw a tantrum at the admissions officer.

Like Laurence Fox, imagine having everything handed to you on a plate via nepotism and rich parents and still being such a complete and utter embarrassing failure.

I’m earning £9k less than I was doing a lower skilled and much more pointless job 8 years ago

LW?

:broken_heart: Crush ended.

Yes, her.

She’s so unpleasant that my manager used to warn new people about her.

I’ve heard a lot of rumours about plagiarism with her too, taking an academic book, giving it a very minor rework to make it more accessible and pumping it out to accompany a TV show. Obviously difficult to prove in that field where you base a lot of stuff off other sources but I know she’s got a reputation for pushing it.

I can imagine that. She just had this real air that she thought she was God’s gift and that everyone was a bit stupider than her, so I’m sure she would consider it fine to steal text from people she thought were inferior.

Dominic Sandbrook- also a total arsehole

Find it quite funny that Peter Hitchens is getting his regular dunk for his latest column, but at the same time is one of the few media figures going to bat for Assange. A very peculiar man.

He’s one of the few people in the op ed business with a consistent world view, even if what that mostly is is corrosive nonsense.

with australia dealing with the pandemic so much better than uk, where was boris johnson’s championing of australian things (australian points based immigration system, australian style deal with the eu) when we needed it? championed the bad things and ignored the good thing :man_facepalming:

Perhaps because there was less of a unified response but more imdividual responses from states themselves. Scott Morrison has been largely absent (just like during the bushfires last year) whereas state premiers and their chief health officers have been over the news.

Also because the playing up to Australia was always empty rhetoric from Johnson.

" Instead of £30 vouchers for ten days worth of free school meals, the government has outsourced free school meals for England’s most vulnerable children, to a catering company called Chartwells.

This company has replaced the £30 vouchers with (ASDA pricing) £5.22 worth of food, for the children.

The picture below is provision for a child for 10 days:

Bread 89p

Beans 85p

Carrots 15p

Apples 42p

Potatoes 22p

Tomato 11p

Cheese £1.45

Frubes 33p

Pasta 10p

Soreen 40p

Bananas 30p

Public funds are charged £30 for each of these £5.22 packages. This means the company is making nearly £25 pure profits from each package literally off the backs (or stomachs) of poor children. Off the taxpayer - who thinks this money is going towards feeding hungry kids.

Chartwells were offered this contract WITHOUT tender - meaning there was no competition allowed to big for this contract, it was just given straight to Chartwells. This is despite Chartwells having a long track record of ripping off the state on school meals by skimming off the top like this. See here: https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/…/catering-firm-slammed…

As you probably expected, Chartwells are a division of Compass Group, the chairman of which is Paul Walsh. Paul Walsh is a donor to the Conservative Party.

How much sicker can this government get? They’re laughing at our poorest kids and making profits off free school meals - off charity!

Thankfully 22yo footballer, Marcus Rashford has been notified, and is starting up his campaign again to hold the government to account for this…

Thank goodness someone is."

Probably closer to £27 or £28. They’ll be paying wholesale prices, not retail.

Someone has pointed on Twitter that the BBE on the bread is 3rd Nov 2020, it’s a conspiracy (or this has been going on for ages without getting any attention)
