it really is like, the yellow king is dead, the black bag team cleaned out carcosa, and now the propaganda machine has cranked into gear. what i find interesting and startling is how little effort they’re putting in. no attempt to explain the dozens of questions about the way he died, the weird coincidences and tidbits, the multiple broken bones, etc. no attempt to explain the millions of loose threads from the case as a whole. just “he had powerful friends and killed himself and that’s that”.
i think about other scandals, WMD, iran contra, etc. there was a concerted effort to plug the story holes, manufacture a consensus of reality. the silence here feels like it’s deliberately sending the message that “yes, we know you are suspicious, yes you have good reason to be, yes there’s something bigger here and there is nothing you can do about it. we’re not even going to lie to you, that would only encourage more questions.”
