I remember mam always saying “he’s not a very good doctor though” and this being a commonly held view, even though I have no idea what evidence it was based on or how it was substantiated. Weird how you don’t question those things when you’re a child.

lol I was about the say the exact same thing! I once saw him giving out prizes at some sports thing (must have been for my brother) and I remember my dad saying two things - that he was sad that the kids didn’t seem more excited to meet a rugby legend, and that apparently he was more of a butcher than a surgeon.

Remember when he played a game at Bedford and one of the players said afterwards that when he came out of the shower “he had a cock like a goose’s neck.”
Aye a couple of years above my auld man in proto Brynteg, he wouldve been gutted.
As legendary a player he was cant help but feel the sideburns were his greatest triumph.
