Seen some people saying ‘she didn’t compare him to Hitler, it was a comparison to Hitler’s bunker!’ - yeah, so a comparison to Hitler.

It seems like there’s a good deal of buy-in with the attempt to frame them as ‘bunker’ comments rather than ‘Hitler’ comments

Also, many commentators deliberately pretending not to understand the difference between an appointed role and the membership of an organisation.

Yeah - I mean the term ‘bunker mentality’ is right there guys, no need to mention Hitler!

Yeah, because the British Jewish community is a monolithic entity that all thinks the same and votes the same way.

Look, at the last general election most of my Jewish friends and myself voted for Labour because it represented something fresh, something exciting. But now we won’t. Not because of Israel - none of us are particularly bothered about criticism of Israel if it is genuine and doesn’t slide into anti-Semitism, although the general consensus among our friendship group is that the BDS movement is counter productive - but because of how the Labour leadership has (mis)handled allegations of anti-Semitism. This shit should have been stamped out years ago. What was a smouldering fire has engulfed the party, leaving the Labour brand toxic, because of a lack of leadership and inertia at the top of the party.

Can’t vote for them now, and I know non-Jews who feel the same way based upon this issue.

Which is why I said in general. In general, British Jewish people come from upper earning brackets that would vote Tory anyway. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t working class Jewish people in this country, or there are some well-off Jews who might be persuaded to vote Labour anyway and that the party hasn’t failed them, of course not.

I have Jewish friends and their position is more or less the same as yours. Idk what to say to them tbh. I don’t believe the leadership is anti-semitic, but undoubtedly there was a better path that could’ve been taken to prevent this from dragging on and on without abandoning fair review and solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

So, shortly after voting with the government and against the attempt to block the prorogation of parliament (one of only two non-Tories to do so, along with Kate Hoey)

Anyone else had to suffer the This Week final episode live atrocity?

I’ve been forced to watch the last 20 minutes and I would like to make it known that I am now available for any armed insurrection going. Not even bothered about ideology at this point tbh: just want this era of British politics burned to the ground.

This is good

have to admit, RT is a pretty great outlet if you remember to take everything they report about russia with a grain of salt. but we’re used to doing this wrt the bbc and the tories so it’s pretty easy to apply elsewhere.

Tony Blair was elected Labour Party leader 25 years ago this Sunday.

Perhaps the problem is what they choose to NOT report about Russia.

oh they do report on them but it’s all sunshine and lollipops, with maybe a token jab thrown at some putin lackey who is marked for assassination anyway

Still enjoying “numerous aj sopranos”.

Don’t suppose if anyone knows if Serco or Mears deliver services on behalf of harringey council?

There’s a campaign in Glasgow against those two firms for their role in attempting to make around 300 asylum seekers homeless. I saw a tweet from harringey council declaring that they won’t work with any companies who collaborate with the hostile environment, inside or outside their council area.

Did a bit of googling but can’t see anything obvious and not sure how easily googleable that kind of thing is.

Anyone any ideas?

How many days left until Johnson/Hunt fight to the death for the soul of the nation?

Don’t appear on the Q4 2018/19 contracts register:

Ah, thank you.
Bloody hell, 36 pages of outsourced services. Says quite a lot in itself doesn’t it.
Wonder if any companies appearing in that list are owned by mears or serco. Quite a bit of research to find that out.
Cone to think if it, there’s an even bigger bit of research to find out if any of them are enforcing hostile environment policies anywhere in the UK.
