I actually visited a fairly small props / costumes etc museum in Hollywood. It had some cool stuff. There was an entire set of Hannibal Lectar’s cell and the cells next to it, but I was very disappointed to find out it was from the film Hannibal and not Silence of the Lambs :disappointed:

Wasnt expecting a Twin Peaks comparison but now I’m even HYPDER

I watched Shaun The Sheep: Farmageddon. It was great.

Think the influences lies more in the melodrama of the first half of the film, less so in the horror parts where it doesn’t have the same levels of intensity as TP. Something about parts (certainly not all of it) of the score reminded me a little bit of TP too.

Don’t want to give too much away but yeah I think you’ll dig it MB!

I mainly just know it from an unofficial Ariel Pink video using some really visually imaginative clips, and Bill Hader gushing about it in his Criterion closet picks video. Hoping to watch it over the next coupla days!

Oh what the unofficial Ariel Pink video? It’d be cool to see how those visuals pair up with AP’s music.

they fit really well iirc

Thought How To Build A Girl was surprisingly poor given the reviews. Didn’t gel with any of the performances, accents were all over the place. Endless cameos were grating and I fucking hated that top hat. Looked cheaply made too, had the same sheen of a BBC3 sitcom.

Me too.

I wasn’t expecting any huge twists or shocks and didn’t get any. The sets and colours were great and I quite liked its slow pace. I saw Jessica Hausner’s Lovely Rita at the cinema after seeing Little Joe. That was my last film at a cinema.

Woah that’s ridiculous! Honestly if you didn’t know the source material, you’d be none the wiser. Lovely stuff!

Indeed, indeed.

Was overwhelmed at the popularity of Shaun the Sheep with the kidz when travelling round Iran. Peppa Pig was banned.

For anyone interested Ida is on Film4 tonight at 10:45pm. So beautiful and affecting.

I loved Ida.

Some reason Cold War didn’t click with me. I might give it another go some time.

The Invincibles (1994) drags a bit but thought it was a dead good film, good German version of rhe 70s paranoia political thrillers

Not sure if we’re late noticing this, but our Mubi app on the TV now has the Library films on there too.

:point_up_2:

We’ve got a Sony/Android TV

Ooh. Will check later, thanks.

May be a stupid question but in cinemas now, do you have to wear facemasks in the screen?

Cineworlds reopening and whilst the showings arent great, Proxima and Unhinged look like they might be alright. If you need to keep masks on in the screen though, not sure I’ll go as I cant see through foggy specs

Doesn’t seem to be any social distancing whatsoever in their booking process though. I was anticipating it limiting the seats you could select but it’s absolutely not doing that from what I can see.

Wearing a face covering will not be made mandatory in other venues that have measures in place to protect staff and the public from Covid-19 including:

  • Eat-in restaurants and pubs
  • Hairdressers and other treatment salons
  • Gyms and leisure centres
  • Cinemas, concert halls and theatres
