Sicario 2 is getting way better reviews than I was anticipating…

i’ve gone from an “ugh” to a “hmm…” when i see the trailers

I think it looks straight up bad tbh but Bradshaw has just chucked 5 stars at it and it’s sitting pretty on Rotten Tomatoes as well…

I saw ready player one last night

that birthmark plotline was some bullshit hey.

Not a very good film

watched The Bar on Netflix. much the same thoughts as I had with In The Fade (despite being two completely different films) - first 2/3 were really good, then the bottom 1/3 trails off massively

oh this is an Alex de la Iglesia thing? he’s an odd filmmaker a lot of the time, made some weird stuff but a fair amount of complete shit

yeah it is. I don’t think I’ve seen any others of his

this may be worth a watch. It’s basically about a group of people trapped in a bar when a sniper kills two people who left before them

the first 2/3 are quite good fun, not especially original but the paranoia amongst the group and the unknown of outside make it quite intriguing. it just gets to a point where it goes too far over the top and theres like 25 minutes of people in a sewer which gets really dull

also the main girl spends the last portion in her underwear as she strips to get into the sewer, and its a bit icky

Why does Gabriel Byrne never ask Toni Collete what film she went to see?

I hope it was Game Night

Because he knew she was bullshitting but he’s such a considerate husband he doesn’t quiz her on it.

It’s also because he had been popping out to watch Game Night with Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams and Jesse Plemons while Toni Collette was out anyway

Bit let down by Tag. Not funny enough and really jarring tonal shift at the end. Hannibal Buress was good though, the lines felt very purposefully written for his delivery style.

guys I think Lynne Ramsay might be a genius

Yeah this ^! Feels weird to say that’s one of De Niro’s better films of the past decade…

have you seen Morning Glory?

Nope, didn’t realise that he was in that?

he isnt but if you like The Intern you would like this. its basically the same type of film with the roles swapped . Harrison Ford is a grumpy newscaster in it. also really great

Ah fair! Quite enjoyed a film where grumpy seniors are new life lessons by young go-getters - will add it to the watch list. Cheers!
