We just watched this based on your recommendation. Really enjoyed it! Really in the mood for lots of teen comedies right now as a good way to switch off from things. Definitely up for other recommendations.

Thanks MB!

What happened to that French film Les Miserables? It was originally coming out in late April and I assumed they’d just switch to a digital release but seems to have vanished from the UK schedule completely for now. Also Roy Andersson’s new film which I think Curzon have got was down for next month but isn’t on the schedule for now.

That was my motivation too. Needed something to chill oot a bit too and I do really really like that sort of thing when done well

In the realm of the senses
A classic this. Hadnt seen it since I had it on dvd years ago so was good to see loads of genitals in extreme bluray detail, obviously. Couple of very controversial bits in it though above and beyond the obvious which felt very dodgy.

Someone try and convince me that Twister isn’t the greatest movie of all time and put Van Halen on the map

Was decent. PTA still overrated

Dystopian sci-fi classic that still stands up almost 50 years later, even if Heston throws on the bravado a tad thick at times. Great twist at the end and always a pleasure seeing Edward G. Robison, albeit in his last film role here, which given his last scene of this film is pretty ironic.

I watched Possession last night. Really unsettling in almost every single way, down to what seemed like some really weird ADR at some points. One of the best articulations of cosmic horror I’ve seen in a film - main thing that struck me is that it seems like it was a big influence on Under the Skin (though I’ve never seen the comparison made)

I’d go as far to say that it feels essentially like the same story as Under the Skin but from the perspective of the humans who are ā€œabductedā€ rather than from the ā€œcreatureā€ themselves

Kicking and Screaming (1995) was kinda like a 90s mash up of Bret Easton Ellis’ Rules of Attraction and Lena Dunham’s Girls. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a film with as many characters sporting sports jackets in it before.

Not to be confused with the 2005 Will Ferrell comedy

When looking for a trailer this is the first search. Don’t think it exists tbh.

Was it any good? Your description could really go either way

The best Lesbian film.

I made a list the other day of the only 7 films I like about Lesbians.

Have you ever seen Kissing Jessica Stein?

No.

Its very underrated and smart IMO! Worth watching.

Of recent ones I really liked My Days Of Mercy and The Miseducation Of Cameron Post.
