I thought Cameron Post was really dull.

I am riled but also not allowed to @ him so I will just sulk instead

Ha I’m undecided! It captured that post uni early to mid 20s existential crisis thing fairly well but most of the characters were pretty irritating (the group dynamic and their whole cleeky dialogue for example was rather irksome) and some of the plots felt a bit under baked but maybe that’s the point. I dunno. It kinda reminded me of Reality Bites but I think I personally preferred this.

at the very least include a link to the imdb

At the request of Mrs Chegg, last week we had to watch ā€˜a film with and alien in it’ with the specification ā€œI just want to see a fucking alien.ā€ This film was absolutely ruled out

Went with Dark Skies.

It
Was
Shit

can’t remember a single thing about it apart from that scene

couldn’t even tell you who was in it… was danny mcbride in this? or was that prometheus? no idea

I also remember mission leader Billy Crudup having a good look at an alien egg with his whole face.
Awesome work, Billy

(I think he also inhaled a load of alien planet plant spores after taking off his helmet because he was a bit hot or something)

The media all spoiling the new Bond film five months before it’s even out (though hopefully they’ve just got it wrong)

I thought it was pretty good. Noah Baumbach was only in his mid 20s when he made it; a very good debut. Reminded me of Linklater’s Slacker in parts too.

Ah I didn’t know it was his debut! That does add to it’s charm then. Can also appreciate the nod to Slacker too, some of the dialogue had a similar air to it.

Also yes, all those things happen. It’s a staggeringly stupid film

Watched Frank last night. Loved it when it first came out, but was left very cold by it on a rewatch. Worried I’ve become completely joyless and jaded since 2014. Also really annoying that MUBI doesn’t subtitle different languages in English speaking films, as mentioned before.

Reviews out for the new Judd Apatow film - 66 on Metacritic so far

I remember really enjoying this, Baumbach at his most amusing '90s (and also uncharacteristically chirpy for the most part iirc). Also, Malcolm in the Middle’s teacher is in it
