A wrinkle in this is that it appears to have been Keith Vaz who blocked him being referred for more serious sanction, which is what the party staff recommended. I suspect Vaz saw an opportunity to ping a stone at two birds by holding onto an MP in a marginal constituency and dragging the whole ‘Corbyn protects his anti-semitic allies’ thing onwards.
