@wikihock sorry bud this replied to my post instead of yours. anyway:

no worries.

i don’t think we single her out. i think almost all our journalists are kind of comical and hapless, like i would admit that 80% of my contributions in these threads are just me ripping on journalists i find funny, but i definitely post more dunks on hodges/ball/cohen/bastani.

perhaps i make fun of her opinions more atm cos brexit is in the news a lot and she’s a leading brexit-gater? i don’t think i’ve ever posted about her in a negative way when she’s covered something serious in a good way. if i have then fair enough, i’m out of order.

Hodges / Cohen / Bastani are not journalists. Ball I don’t know much about tbh, but either way to categorise her alongside those husks is unfair.

That’s it - she’s not a “brexit-gater”, she’s literally helped to uncover major shit in relation to Brexit. Trying to diminish that because, shock-horror, she talks a lot about the EU referendum being shoddy and corrupt, is a bit off to me.

That said, I feel like I might have become ghosthalo-gater, cos I think I just notice it every time you say anything about BAErole cadwealldaldare in a way that’s disproportionate.

It’s too hot.

The thing is Cadwalladr has given in to the huge liberal fallacy that being right about something means everyone should be going your way completely ignoring the fact that for the majority of people politics is an emotional rather than intellectual decision. She can go on about how the Leave campaign broke the law until she’s blue in the face (and she frequently does) but it doesn’t make a difference to the fact that Leave voters don’t care. She’s never engaged with the root causes that drove the Leave result, she just keeps shouting into the void of Twitter demanding that the world shapes itself to the way she expects it to be. Some the journalistic work she’s done has been really good and valuable but it needs to be coupled a better political understanding and she should be called out on that.

I see that Tom Watson has whipped lots of MPs and Peers into calling for the leadership to intervene directly in the disciplinary process and to sideline New Labour types like Keith Vaz.

Sure. Good to see that he’s come around to supporting the membership.

Is this actually a name? Assumed it was a dining app or smthng.

I believe she’s Welsh?

Main thing I remember is her really tastelessly trying to connect the Christchurch shooting to Brexit in some way, which was bizarrely ghoulish behaviour. Don’t have much opinion either way about her aside from that.

Not wanting to resume yesterday’s argument but is Watson’s suggestion of withdrawing the whip a viable possibility?

It’s bad but I’m in knots at this assumption.

Oh man, I just looked that up and… yeah at best it’s a case oif woods/trees.

It is. It doesn’t do anything about WIlliamson’s position in the party though.

biggest dis politics thread villain/traitor:

  • cadwalladr
  • that newcastle former labour traitor
  • aaron bastani/novara media in general
  • jolyon

idk, he doesn’t come up too much here I thought.

Of course, quite a lot of it is “smug” from him.
