Very silly isn’t it, like a joke album. Was this really taken seriously? Anyway, it’s quite good actually, will listen again.
depends what you mean by taken seriously. like i don’t think anyone ever thought it was a profound statement or anything, more of a case of “they play really fast and have cool riffs, this rules”

No point trying to explain it really, you either get it or you don’t.
I’ve been dabbling in Slayer for the first time recently as well (I mean I’ve heard tracks before, but never sat down and had a go at an LP). I’ve enjoyed it. I was always on team Metallica and maybe Anthrax, but good to finally dive into Slayer.
I really like it but I’ve always thought that I never need another record like it.
I need exactly one album that sounds anything like Reign in Blood.
Plus they went on to do what very very few artists do, have their lead guitarist collaborate with Sum 41 for a song on the Spiderman soundtrack
Just to reiterate, I enjoyed the record quite a lot. It’s just very silly, like a biker gang putting on a pantomime.
100% that. Look at Kerry King’s silly homemade gauntlet of nails for example!

Should market that to B&Q
“Ever doing a DIY job and cant find the nails youve just been using a second before? Worry no more!”
Same as Pantera for me. Clearly good, must have been a proper ‘woah’ at the time, never have any desire to put them on really

Find this to be the case with most of the big metal subgenres tbh, they’re usually very broad but very shallow and the cream tends to rise to the top. You only really need one Reign In Blood, In the Nightside Eclipse, Scum, Symphonies of Sickness etc.
I’d rather like Discobot to tell me whether there will ever be another album like Reign In Blood…
Don’t count on it
