when two people in a really good creative partnership go solo, the majority of the time their respective solo output is inferior to the stuff they did whilst together. It is often thought that this is due to one person filling in for the others weaknesses and vice versa, and that the solo output subsequently sounds like it’s lacking something.
Well actually I propose that that’s bollocks and the real reason the solo stuff isn’t as good is because by the time they go solo they’ve already used up their best ideas.
