Their Forum gig in 94 and the Brixton gig in 95 probably both make my top 20 of all time. Such a great focal point for their shows. Will miss the geezer
Gutting news. He was a huge part of my childhood as my mum was a massive fan - I remember trying to learn Firestarter on the recorder. RIP
Very sad news. Prodigy were the first band/group I was completely obsessed with when I was 12/13
December 1995 at Brixton? Stunning gig. The Chemical Brothers supporting.
Music for the Jilted Generation is genre defining. Such an amazing album. Not sure it gets the props it deserves though… R.I.P Keith.
Teriible news. The Fat of the Land one of great records of the 90s. Too young. RIP Keith.
Aw no! I absolutely loved the first three albums, …Jilted… especially!
Saw them in Millstreet in 2005 and the gig is burned into my memory. Some of the most fun I’ve ever had.
Forty-nine is absolutely no age to go. WTF.
Yeah, that’s the one - such a great night!
One of the best live bands on the plantet at their peak, in no small part thanks to Keith. They headlined the first festival I ever went to (V97 in Staffordshire) and I thought for sure I was going to die in that pit. RIP
this is wonderful
Feels like a massive part of the 90’s has been lost today. So so sad.
haven’t seen them but have had some glorious fun watching sets on youtube while mashed with my mate who’s a huge fan
few really deserve to be called iconic but there really is no one else like Keith Flint
This is terrible, remember when Fat Of The Land came out and taping it off my mates brother after feeling like I’d been hit in the face hearing it for the first time. It was THE album that turned me on to electronic music. Very few bands that would fit as comfortably on the lineup for Creamfields AND Download. RIP Keith.
Same for me - but with rock music
I’m way more gutted about this than I ever expected.
Just remembered one festival where we made our own mini rave dancing to the Out of Space ringtone on my mate’s Nokia
I was at that also. Was that the show where the floor collapsed? Amazing gig.
Was also at ^that (although V was still in Leeds rather than Staffs in 97). Intense…
I got kicked out of my friends parents house when I was 13 because I ruined their carpets trying to dance like him. I forgot I had muddy shoes on.
I basically wanted to be him :disappointed
Fuck, I was hoping it was just an accidental overdose or heart attack or something. FFS.
Oh fuck
Proper gutted about this, absolutely loved the Prodigy in my teens, got back into them through Invaders (cracking album that). The Fat of the Land was a brilliant gateway album into weirder and wonderful things.
