Nothing could be more ominous than a rapper saying he’s incorporating rock influences.

There’s a rock band embracing their ‘dance influences’

Probably worth a new thread this @moderators

I am very much looking forward to listening to this having learned to dispel any concerns that have come up in advance of his albums being released.

Remember when Cyprus Hill did that double album with the Disc Of Rock and it was trash?

It might be worth thinking about what being ‘rock influenced’ might mean in hip hop circles in 2020 - there’s a whole generation of rappers around at the moment that cite Nirvana and Radiohead as major influences but who don’t sound remotely like either of them (they mostly sound like people with face tattoos mumbling about Xanax over the muffled sound of someone hitting a box underwater)

His next step is to release some utter gash single that everyone shits on, before backtracking massively upon hearing it in the context of the album and it somehow making complete sense

Almost like he shouldve earned a bit of latitude innit
