I think Iâve read almost 15 of his books, but still have another 5 or so unread. Will likely still keep them on my bookshelf though, despite the handy ebook collection. (I actually bought the collection last time it was on offer, at ÂŁ3.99. Should have held out longer!)

He seems to have settled into a pattern with his books of late, but theyâre usually good fun, and worth 99p. Wouldnât start here if youâve never read one of his, go back to the four LA books or American Tabloid.

Got a Kobo after wanting to ditch Amazon for a good while⌠Mega impressed with the ability to borrow library books. Tonnes of stuff I want to read on there (on The Lost Daughter by Elena Ferrante now, The Wall by Marlene Haushofer next). Still keeping the kindle to read the 100s of 99p deals Iâve bought!

Iâve vaguely contemplated getting a kobo for library books there instead of on my phone. But itâs a very expensive thing to get just for library books! Plus the 200+ 99p kindle books I still haveâŚ

(also for the benefit of @kram), I got all my Kindle books off the Kindle and onto my new Kobo using Calibre. It needs a tiny bit of tech savvy to do, but nothing too outrageous, and there will be plenty of guides online. I did do it a year or more ago, and Kindle DRM* is a moving target so it may have changed, but Calibre is free software anyway, and youâll know if youâre able to get your books Kobo-ready before you need to buy one, so the only real risk is wasting half an hour finding out.
As a device, I much prefer the Kobo. The UI is a lot nicer and easier to use, it handles series properly, and (on my model at least) it still has physical buttons, which I really missed when my first Kindle died and I replaced it. Speaking of which, the Kobo is also user-fixable, and you can replace batteries, screens etc yourself. And it has a colour screen! You wouldnât use it for reading graphic novels or anything, but itâs a lot better than the drab old Kindle. I like it a lot, and I donât think Iâll go back to a Kindle.
*is doing this dodgy? Amazon would probably say yes, but morally speaking I was fine with it, having bought the books myself in the first place.
