I loved it too. A vivid nightmare with no explanation of anything, only death
Anyone read this?
(Trust by Hernan Diaz as preview seems to be being weird)
I have not but I’m intrigued… half the reviews make it seem like the great American novel; half make it seem like unreadable nonsense.
Yes! I really liked it.
It takes about two thirds of the book before it reveals what’s going on, but that’s kind of the point. Definitely not nonsense.
Read it pretty much in one sitting just yesterday. It’s a Good Book, though I reckon you could make an argument about reordering the four sections.

Think I’ll grab this
a frankly extortionate £1.99, but I really enjoyed this horror novel
(how to sell a haunted house by Grady Hendrix)
I thought that…and then it told me i already own it! Bloody DiS making me buy things and forget
Big day for DiS today
The Good Drinker: How I Learned to Love Drinking Less - Adrian Chiles
Time Shelter: (had it on my wish list and it’s 99p today)
"In Time Shelter, an enigmatic flâneur named Gaustine opens a ‘clinic for the past’ that offers a promising treatment for Alzheimer’s sufferers: each floor reproduces a decade in minute detail, transporting patients back in time.
As Gaustine’s assistant, the unnamed narrator is tasked with collecting the flotsam and jetsam of the past, from 1960s furniture and 1940s shirt buttons to scents and even afternoon light. But as the rooms become more convincing, an increasing number of healthy people seek out the clinic as a ‘time shelter’, hoping to escape from the horrors of our present - a development that results in an unexpected conundrum when the past begins to invade the present."
Seems very Marmite from the reviews: hope I’ll be one of the ones who love it!
It was on my wish list too so I’ve bought it, although the reviews are sort of making me feel like I won’t like it!
75p (but it is only 21 pages long)

Time Shelter (winner of the booker prize)
I bought the paperback of this at the beginning of the summer.
Haven’t so much as opened it yet.
on the other hand, I bought it yesterday and started it yesterday! (quietly apologising to my other 150+ books that I have in my backlog wondering why its jumped the queue…)
