Kissing is a proper weird thing for people to do tbf.

did that happen to you??

Fair.

I hope no one’s laughing at being ginger or ginger prejudice in this thread. It certainly wasn’t my intention to create a platform for anything like that.

yeah, jesus, that is absolutely horrendous

I’ll be honest, I feel like it is possible to notice identify someone by their hair colour without making any other assumptions about them or racialising them in any way. But all the same it’s obviously one of a myriad completely superficial things humans ‘other’ in some way and subject other humans to abuse because of if they’re particularly weird folks so that’s sad.

That’s horrible and I’m sorry to hear it.

I can see how, what seems at face value to be, a nonsense day title could give shitbags further entitlement to behave badly.

Probably a bad idea when all things are considered.

I wasn’t trying to minimise that at all sorry, it’s a horrible thing to happen to you.
I don’t think anybody’s having a laugh at ginger people or people who’ve experienced harassment in this thread either though.

Of course I have and maybe I’ve misinterpreted the idea of the thread but isn’t it that the fact the day exists is quite absurd for obvious reasons, and the people in it have more or less been fine/sharing quite sweet opinions?

I’d like to say I was joking and can see the wrongness of my statement. Apologies DB.

A lot of malicious game playing going on in this thread.
A lot of people being reeled in by some superb trolling too.
It’s almost like the old days.

I feel as though everyone had more or less behaved up until now, too.

Yeah I don’t disagree with a lot of that, I think subtle influences that causes fetishisation of anything from hair colour to say idk wearing glasses or something means they’re not always a conscious decision though, or about demeaning somebody… people should always be aware it could cause that sort of offence but I think it’s so innocent it hasn’t even entered their mind in this case? I’m not making excuses for anything and if it’s offended you we should be making more efforts to be mindful about things like that, but I think a lot of the statements in here were made with love or at least a sense that the “kissing a ginger” day is silly in the first place.

Yeah course. We are talking about different things then.

Alright Mick Hucknall

I will die slightly happier if I don’t ever have a creepy old man ask me “if the carpets and curtains match” ever, ever again.

(Creepy young men included too- they can all go die in a ditch)

Hmm might have read a bit more of the thread before posting that

everything is awful.

can you explain why people saying they like your hair is a bad thing though?

So grim.

My daughter is convinced that her generation is doing better with this kind of thing. She’s seventeen and my gut feeling is that she’s been sheltered and hasn’t experienced enough real life douche-baggery to realise how much of it is out there.

But maybe she’s right. I hope she is. We should get better with each generation after all.
