HBD K R!
Me and Philip Jackson were massive knightrider fans and KITT was appearing in Manchester so his mum took us there to see it but it had finished the day before so we didnt see it.

Wild to think that self driving car tech is nearly at KITT levels 40 years on
Remember it well growing up in the 80s.
Liked the way they’d speed up the stock footage of KITT on desert roads to make it seem the car was driving faster.
The Michael Knight vs Gareth thing was daft as it comes but fun.
I think Geena Davis was in an episode.
Liked the way occasionally someone would challenge KITT to a race right at the end of an episode and the race would merge into the final credits.
Edit. In later series KITT seemed to have some sort of spectrophotometer installed too…in addition to its ability to leave minor oil slicks behind for the baddies.
I liked other things about it too…but hated Streethawk. That was so shit.
Vehicle based 80s shows. I’m sure I’ve forgotten some

Sorry @UncleRetrospective auto correct spoiled automan
The Dukes Of Hazzard with their racist car could be included in that list too but let’s not.
And The A-Team with their cool van ![]()
Did Manimal have a vehicle? Pretty sure MacGyver did vehicle stuff…
I’ve drawn the line somewhere between having a vehicle and the vehicle being central to the show
Vaguely remember it being rebooted with a whole fleet of KITTs instead of just one. Having checked IMDB looks like there have been about four reboots though, with another on the way.
None of them exist obviously.
Also had a toy Knight Rider when I was little. It used to drive through a shed that made it do a wheelie
I had a Phillip Jackson who was well into Knight Rider in the Manchester area, too!
We went to see Timmy Mallet in Bury Millgate, though. Don’t wanna brag like.
You lucky sod.
Wonder if it was the same one…much more south manc really
Nah, the guy’s so North Manchester he moved to Carlisle in 2007.
Can’t imagine my childhood Saturday afternoons without it
also no theme tune had any right to go that hard
cHips was the only one I liked. Probably just an age thing (also think I had a crush on Erik Estrada).
Absolutely loved Knight Rider. Found an end of year primary school class photo recently and there I am in my favourite Knight Rider jumper. No idea how I got away with that. Happy birthday!
