Always dude. Labour’s pretty fucked lately but we have to at least have each other!

at least blair’s back on side lads!

FWIW this is probably the best post I’ve read in one of these threads. Thanks for sharing and being honest, and you’re certainly not alone in not being able to wrap your head around it. Its near-infinite complexity has proved too much for my tiny brain to figure out

Jesus. Just been really surprised by a big thread on FB where a load of my friend’s family were going hard in on Starmer for being “Blair”, “a Tory”, “a little backstabbing c**t”. Most of them are longtime Labour voters but we recently learned they all voted Tory in December for Brexit reasons, and here they’re all getting pissed off at Starmer for going after Corbyn. Really weird comments from a couple of them that I know for a fact voted Tory this time now lamenting that it’s another 20 years of Tory rule even if Labour win and saying they’ll never vote again. Is this the mood of the country?

Looks like Blair’s back on the menu boys

Hi- I’m really sorry if that phrase and the way it was used was upsetting or triggering to you in any way. I didn’t realise the significance of it until reading your post and googling it- again, I’m just sharing another person’s words and opinions and assumed it was a quote from an article or something. It wasn’t deliberate but I suppose that’s ignorance on my part, have found some articles/blog posts about it which I’ll read tomorrow when I’m less tired and can take them in properly.

Sorry again to anyone, appreciate it’s a massively evocative subject

There’s a lot going on here.

@Epimer noted how much lifting the ‘presumably’ is doing. But there’s other stuff in there that jars. I’ve spent quite a while re-reading it. And rather than tediously dissect it here, I’m just gonna summarise that it’s a very tabloidy piece of writing. Reads much more like something pitched to persuade than explain.

Which is not to take away from the writer’s lived experience, or their intended message (after all, they weren’t too know it would be posted for semi-public consumption). It’s just to say that I’m ultimately left with way more questions than answers after reading it.

edit, in light of seeing the post immediately above: No aggro at all intended to ya kermy, just trying to make sense of what is indeed a massively evocative subject. Tried my best to word my comment properly. You’ve no obligation to explain anything on anyone else’s behalf.

Maybe that is the case, but, like… a) if I felt discriminated against in such a massive way, I would most likely try to persuade people to understanding how I feel and why, that I can absolutely understand and b) think it would’ve been a different conversation if I’d have been sat across, sharing a bottle of wine and chatting for hours about such a huge subject. It was a relatively short email, some of which was about catching up, and it was very much left open for me to ask more questions etc.

Yeah, definitely this. Think I’m gonna quickly edit/delete it cause it seems to have aggravated people (understandably so), but… I am much more inclined to listen to those with a lived experience, as you say.

Oh no, no agro taken <3

Conflating Wiley being vile with Corbyn or even Socialism as an entire ideology really is the stupidest thing I’ve ever read
Today

Sorry, Corbyn’s clearly responsible for what Wiley said and could do something to stop it, John Mann said so, so it must be true!

Wiley posts on Twitter and is anti-semitic so everyone who posts on Twitter is anti-semitic, obvs.

Those trying to politically point-score off the back of Wiley’s antisemitism are absolute ghouls. So sick that there are people getting a hard-on over Wiley’s tweets so they have another opportunity to bash Corbyn. It’s so unbelievably disrespectful and honestly are we meant to believe these people actually give a shit about victims of antisemitism?

Staggering.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of Corbyn the party cannot/should not abandon due process in the face of threats of litigation it would set an awful precedent.
